Along the course followed by Ulysses, on board comfortable, exclusive sea-going craft, on a journey into history, myth and legend in the blue waters of Capri and the Punta Campanella marine reserve.

A fantastic voyage, filled with unforgettable sensations especially as the sun sets, when on the almost cinematic backcloth of boats heading towards the Li Galli islands we can picture our Greek hero, tied to his ship’s mast, listening to the captivating call of the Syrens. We can almost hear the voice of the sorceress, Circe, as she instructs Ulysses on how to defend himself against the Syrens: “To the Sirens first shalt thou come, who bewitch all men, whosoever shall come to them. Whoso draws nighthem unwittingly and hears the sound of the Sirens’ voice, never doth he see wife or babes stand by him on his return, nor have they joy at his coming” (Homer, Odysseus, Book XII). “Vervece Charter”, a company of enterprising Massa businessmen captained by a very young Ferdinando Cocurullo and his first mates, his father Franco, Mario Gargiulo (o’ taliano) and Gaetano Milone, uses three sea-going craft to take groups of a maximumseven along precise routes, accompanied by a hostess withan excellent knowledge of foreign languages. Along with the course of Ulysses through the narrow straits of Capri to the Li Galli islands, guests will be informed of other cultural tourism itineraries including the circumnavigation of Capri, with stops to swim along the coast and near the famous grottoes (the Arch of Bethlehem, the White, Meravigliosa, Green and – of course – Blue grottoes, and many others) that characterise the island, the discovery of villas, harbours and Greek and Roman temples along the Massa Lubrense coast, particularly around the promontory of Punta Campanella, and religious itineraries with a stop at the Crapolla fjord – according to tradition the first stop Saint Peter made in Campania on his journey to Rome, a visit to the Bay of Ieranto now protected by the FAI (the Italian National Trust). From here, on to the small islands of Vetara, Isca, once the home of Italy’s muchloved Edoardo de Filippo and now of his son, Luca, to the Bay of Recommone and the underwater Zaffiro sea-cave. History, culture and a strong dose of sheer pleasure, armin- arm along a stretch of uncontaminated waters which as of this year proudly flies the Bandiera Blu, an important international acknowledgment awarded by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). Alongside the renowned “Ieranto 7.5”, a modern adaptation with cabin in prized woods of the old Sorrentine gozzo, produced by master shipbuilders in the “Tecnonautica” yard in Piano di Sorrento, is another “local sea-going legend”, the Nerano 24” gozzo entirely crafted in the Marina del Cantone yard by the master shipbuilder Luigi De Simone and, for those preferring the space of a larger vessel or who like the idea of a fishing contest or escorted dives we have an “Arvor 250”, a high-performance US pilot boat.A series of services “at your pleasure” for those seeking a full-immersion into the contaminated local splendours, offered by those who take pride in their historic roots and who hope to hand them down to future generations. This initiative has received the full support of the “Punta Campanella” marine reserve.
