Raffaello Converso during his performance “Padrone d’ ‘o mare” on April 4th at the Teatro Tasso of Sorrento

The notes of the most touching and most famous melodies of maestro Salve d’Esposito echoed through Teatro Tasso on the 25th anniversary of Raffaello Conversohis death, which Sorrento decided to commemorate by also dedicating Villa Comunale gardens, the splendid terrace overlooking the Gulf and a must for thousands upon thousands of tourists, to the artist. From the world-famous “Anema e Core” composed in 1949 to “Padrone d’ ‘o mare”, “Me so’ ‘mbriacato ‘e sole” and “Tarantella ‘e sole ardente”, singer actor and multi-instrumentalist Raffaello Converso and his group interpreted the best of the artistic production of our charismatic musician who at the start of the 1950s revolutionised Neapolitan song. “Anema e Core” sold millions of copies throughout the world, with no less than 58 recordings in Italy alone. Through Raffaello Converso’s concert “Padrone d’ ‘o mare”, the idea of Sorrento Town Council and the ‘Anema e Core’ association, run by Luisa and Andrea d’Esposito - the artist’s daughter and grandson, was to keep alive the memory of a great musical talent… a talent whose eclectic nature combines sensitivity and studies that also led to his composing classical music, symphonic pieces and opera that never failed to touch the hearts of those having the pleasure of listening to them. The success of Raffaello Converso’s concert is proof that not only the memory of that extraordinary musician, Salve d’Esposito, is still alive, but also that his music is still very much a part of our present.
